A wider purpose of my essay is to explain the place of ethics and normativity in Wittgenstein’s philosophy generally. My overall thesis is that, in Wittgenstein’s early philosophy, ethics is exiled from language, while in his later philosophy, ethical norms are highly important to the working of language.
